Is Tao The Best Chinese in Warrington? 🥢 🍚 

I get a lot of replies to my sign-up email asking, “What is the best restaurant in Warrington?”

I read every email, as hearing other people's opinions is always interesting. Quite a few of you mentioned Tao, so I decided to treat my wife and try it out. As I’ve said before, I am no food reviewer, just an average foodie who thought you might like to know about some places to eat out around Warrington.

We visited last week and went to the set menu. You get a starter platter that includes Duck spring rolls, Sesame prawn toast, Chicken skewers, King do ribs, & Seaweed.

After that, you can choose a main course. We went for the crispy shredded beef in Cantonese sauce and the katsu chicken. Honestly, as someone who orders crispy shredded beef a lot, this was one of the best I have ever had. It was proper steak cut up, not swimming in sauce and not thin twiglets of beef.

The katsu was also excellent: crispy, tender chicken with a great sauce.

Tao is not cheap, but honestly, I didn’t mind, as the service and food were some of the best we have had in a long time.

Thanks to the readers for recommending Tao. It did not disappoint, and I think we found our new favourite Chinese restaurant in Warrington. Check out their Trip Advisor reviews.

Ferry Tavern Beer Festival (Friday 20th and Saturday 21st)🍺 

The beer festival season is here! This will be the first of many featured in the newsletter over the coming weeks.

The Ferry Tavern is known for its great beers, as there are always plenty of real ales. Friday and Saturday, they will have 20 hand-pulled cask ales for you and two new food trucks to try. Wings and Things will be on Friday, and Fuego BBQ will be on Saturday.

The last poll about the bus station went down really well, so I'd like your opinions on what the town needs the most.

I have some extra information for you on this one. You have likely never seen this before, but now that you have seen it (and you will get the answer on Friday). It will be one of those things that you point out to a friend next time you are in town: “Look up there.”

It was pointed out to me over ten years ago, and it’s a symbol of what was there over 100 years ago.
