Christmas Tree Recycling, Beginners Running Sessions and What's On This Weekend
From Warrington is also rebranding!
Good morning, Warrington. Have you missed us? We had a break as we decided to have a little rest while it was Christmas. How was your Christmas and New Year? Good? Oh, you ate and drank too much, just like we did? Well, one of the ideas in today’s newsletter might help you.
In today's edition:
From Warrington is Rebranding 😃
What’s On This Weekend (It’s a quiet week 😴 )

Level Up Warrington: A New Chapter Coming Spring 2025 🕹️
Grab your favourite brew, and let's start. ☕️
P.S. Sorry to hear about anyone affected by the terrible floods over the past few days. Do you think the council’s response was good enough?

Important Notice - From Warrington Rebranding 😃
Over the Christmas period, we have been busy working on a rebrand.
When we asked people what the name of the newsletter who were signed up, they couldn’t quickly remember what it was called. One friend mentioned that the name wasn’t memorable enough (and he had a point).
You may have seen ads for the new brand on Facebook adverts.
We are rebranding to “The Warrington Scoop,” as in “Get the Scoop” of what’s been happening around town. We hope you agree, it’s a catchier name.
So from next Monday (Or Friday), depending on how the migration goes, your newsletter will come from [email protected] and have “Warrington Scoop” as the sender. If you can, please add the email to your safe list so that it doesn’t appear in your spam.
The new sending schedule will likely be Friday and Monday (No Wednesdays anymore). This will allow us to make the 2 emails you have better quality information in. Wednesday’s will likely return at some point in 2025 though.
If you are a Wordle fan, don’t worry, that will still come once a week in one of the issues.

Help St Rocco’s Collect Christmas Trees and Support a Great Cause 🎄

Looking for an easy way to get rid of your Christmas tree while making a difference? St Rocco’s Hospice is running its annual Christmas Tree Collection event on Saturday, 11th January, and they need your help.
Here’s how you can get involved:
1️⃣ Volunteer or Donate Resources
St Rocco’s is calling for vans, chippers, and volunteers to collect trees from homes across Warrington. Whether you can lend a hand, a vehicle, or equipment, your support will ensure the event runs smoothly. To help, contact their Fundraising Team at [email protected] or call 01925 575780.
2️⃣ Book a Collection
For a donation to patient care, St Rocco’s will collect and recycle your Christmas tree! If you live in a Warrington postcode (WA1 to WA5 and WA13), simply book online at Tree Collection 2025 | St Rocco’s Hospice or call 01925 579211. Just leave your tree in an accessible spot by Friday, 10th January, and the team will handle the rest.
💷 Every penny raised goes directly to supporting St Rocco’s Hospice, helping them provide free care to patients and their families in Warrington.

Weather ⛅️
It’s good to see that the rain has stopped. This weekend will be cold with only a bit of rain.
🌤️ Friday: A chilly evening ahead with partly cloudy skies. Temps will dip to 4°C during the day and drop to -1°C overnight. Wrap up warm if you're heading out. 🧥❄️
🌧️ Saturday: A cold and wet day with rain expected. Highs of 1°C and lows of -1°C. Perfect weather for staying in with a brew. ☔🍵
☁️🌦️ Sunday: Slightly milder but still damp. Expect showers and cloudy skies, with temperatures reaching 6°C and a low of 2°C. Keep that brolly handy. 🌂💧

Sport 🏉
⚽️ Warrington Town suffered a 2-0 New Year’s Day defeat to Marine, with two injury-time goals in the first half sealing the loss. The Yellows, now closer to the relegation zone, struggled to create chances, and a lackluster second half left the team unable to respond. King’s Lynn visit next.
