Foodie Fridays, Another New Coffee Shop and Plenty On This Weekend

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here! Welcome to Friday's edition of From Warrington. We make every email we write fun and easy to read within a few minutes.

Foodie Fridays 🍕 🌯 🍚

If you didn’t know, The Ferry Tavern pub has a different food truck every Friday from 5pm onwards. It's really popular, and there are some great choices.

Last Friday was Viet Rice Box, so while the sun was down, I popped down. It was amazing, and obviously, it goes down well with a nice beer when the sun is out.

Coming up for the rest of the month are:

Friday 6th - So Greek Full
Friday 13th - Slice of Fire Pizza
Friday 27th - Jules Glorious Food (Mexican)

New Coffee Shop Opening ☕️

Another new coffee shop is opening right in the middle of town. This unit was a car phone warehouse or Phones4U, and then it became a travel agent and possibly something else after that. Walking past today, I saw that it was being turned into a coffee shop.

There was a sign in the window stating that they are advertising for staff, so contact them if you are looking for a new job.

🎤 Michael Jackson Raw - Ye Old Red Lion/Lal Sher, 6:30pm | Celebrating 1 year of Lal Sher (Indian Restaurant) joining the Red Lion.

🧘‍♀️ Self Care Mini Yoga Retreat - Appleton Parish Hall, 6pm | Join them for an evening of pure bliss and relaxation.

Saturday

⛪️ St Marys Church heritage open day, 10am - 2pm | Learn all about this 18th century church and its people over the years. This is also on Sunday as well.

🏃 Park Run | Victoria Park, 9am | Start the day off with a run! Last week 409 people ran it.

🎙️ Ben Elton - Authentic Stupidity | Parr Hall | The undisputed godfather of modern stand-up is going back on the road with his new show – Authentic Stupidity

🏳️‍🌈 Pride Night - Dead Eyes Cocktail Bar, 9pm | With Tina Tuna night not to be missed! Laughs, music and a sprinkle of filth!

🎵 Warrington Record Fair - Golden Square, 9am - 5pm | If you love your vinyl records, this is for you.

🚶‍♂️ Walk and Talk - Victoria Park, 10am - 12pm | Dads Matters. Dads walk and talk in the fresh air come rain or shine. A chance to meet with other Dads, Dad Matters volunteers & Coordinators.

🎸 Dog and Partridge Festival - 1pm - 11pm | Open from 9 for breakfast then all day of fun, and music, for the Blood Bikes and NW Air Ambulance.

😄 Music bingo with DJ Taxi Mike - London Bridge Inn, 8pm | £5 for 5 games of music bingo with great prizes to be won.

🎸 Glazefest | The Glazebury Pub, 1pm | Live music, drinks, food and amusements.

⚔️ Heritage Open Day (Day 1) - St Oswald Church, Winwick, 11am | Have a look around the old building and watch a battle reenactment.

💃 Argentine Tango Basics For Beginners | Croft Village Memorial Hall, 2pm | Come on down to this event even if you haven’t danced the tango before.

Sunday

⚔️ Heritage Open Day (Day 2) - St Oswald Church, Winwick, 12pm | This is day 2 of the event. Have a look around the old building and watch a battle reenactment.

🎏 Fairfield and Howley Flag Festival - Fairfield Street, 1pm to 4pm | Celebrate all the possibilities of Fairfield and Howley with the First Flag Festival. Facepainting, Games, Crafts, Cakes and of course Flags.

🧠 Quiz Night - Seven Woods Pub, 7pm | Smartphone pub quiz with lots of prizes.

🛍️ Makers Market - Time Square, 11am | The usual amazing makers market is back this month.

🧘 Cacao & Blue Lotus Ceremony | The Body Project, 10am - 2pm | Come together & drink high grade ceremonial cacao, made with the activating Blue Lotus flower and we will do guided breathwork techniques to stimulate our energy, to clear out the old to make way for the new.

🚶 Hope 100 Walk | Halliwell Jones Stadium, 3am | We featured this in our last email. It is to raise awareness around suicide prevention and it looks like over 250 people have signed up.

Live Music Lowdown 🎸

🍺 Third celebrity visitor pops into village pub within days (Warrington Guardian).

Sport 🏉

🏉 Its a big game on Saturday at 3pm as Warrington take on Saints at the Halliwell Jones. Judging by Saints’ form of late, we should win this one. You can buy tickets here.

⚽️ Warrington Town also play at 3pm on Saturday. They take on Scunthorpe.
