Things To Do This Weekend and We Visit 'Roast'

Friday 9th August

Good Morning, Warrington. It’s Friday, and From Warrington is here with your local news and events— more reliable than a train from Warrington to Manchester.

In today’s From Warrington:

  • Things to do in Warrington this weekend (mainly craft and food markets)📆

  • We visit “Roast” 🍗

  • Local news Roundup

Let’s jump right in.

Have You Tried Roast? 🍗

I heard people talk about this place several times over the past few months and had to give it a go.

What is it? Well, as the name says, it serves mainly roasted food at great prices.

What we have tried:

  • The sub sandwiches are £2.50 each. They're much cheaper than a subway and really good for the price.

  • The chicken strips. These are good for the price, you get 4 of them for £3 (I think). You can get chips AND a drink for an extra upgrade, about £1 extra.

We haven’t tried the fantastic roast dinner bundle for £10.

Here is a picture of what you get:

Overall verdict: Roast is great. The only issue is that there’s always a big queue, meaning getting served can take ages. Is it worth the wait? We think it is.

Have you tried Roast, and what did you think of it? Let us know by replying to the email.

Things To Do This Weekend 📆

Here's a quick rundown of the coolest things happening in Warrington this weekend. This seems to be the part of the newsletter that readers enjoy most 😄

There are a lot of markets on this weekend. It's not good when you are trying to eat healthier like I am, and there are loads of amazing pies and cakes to be eaten 😆

Friday

🤣 Comedy Night at Partridge Lakes - 7 pm to 11 pm - This is at Partridge Lakes. They have 3 acts on, and it looks set to be a great night. It will be headlined by Tony Burgess.

Saturday

🤼 💪 Off The Page Wrestling - 3 pm - St Benedicts - This looks like great fun for all the family. High quality and affordable. Get your tickets here.

🛍️ 🥧☕️ 🎨 Bents Artisan Market - 10 am to 4 pm - Bents is amazing without an artisan market, but Bents with extra stalls will be amazing. There will be over 80 traders with stalls here.

🛍️ Table Top Sale - 9:30 am - at Alford Hall Sports and Social Club.

🍰 ☕️ 🎨Chapelford Market - 10 am - 4 pm - There will be plenty of artisan stalls, food and drink, and arts and crafts — something for all the family.

Sunday

🍰 🥧☕️ 🎨 Warrington Makers Market - 11 am - 6 pm - At Time Square near the market. This is a brilliant little market that’s been going on for years. It's one of the best around and worth a visit if you are in town.

🎧️ 🎶 Warrington Record Fair - 11 am - 4 pm - This takes place in the market, on the mezzanine floor at the top. Grab something from the Makers Market for lunch, then get something from here.

🥧☕️ 🎨 Artisan and Makers Market Lowton - 10 am - 3 pm - Lots of stalls, a free kids activities zone, butty and brew for £2.

Where were we on Wednesday? 📸

In Wednesday’s email, we featured an image where you had to guess where we were.

Well done to those who got it correct. We were in Walton Gardens down by the pond.

If you have an image that would suit this feature, please get in touch.

This Weekends Weather ☁️

It’s still staying warm, and so it should be for August. There is no need for an umbrella this weekend.

  • Friday - 🌤️ 21 degrees, sunny with clouds.

  • Saturday - 🌤️ 21 degrees, sunny with clouds.

  • Sunday - 🌤️ 27 degrees, sunny with clouds.

Local News Roundup 📰

Obviously, there’s a lot of stuff going on at the moment (but we won’t talk about that). Instead, here are some of the more uplifting stories from the past few days.
