Beer Festival, Jigsaw Festival and Bath and Body Works Opens

Plus, some history, a what's on guide and Warrington Wordle

Good morning, Warrington. Mike here! This is From Warrington, this morning’s intro is very simple, I want to say I’m glad you’re here, and thank you for all the support! 😊

In today’s From Warrington:

  • Culcheth Beer Festival 🍺

  • Jigsaw Festival 🧩

  • Bath and Body Works Opens at Next Gemini 🛀

  • What’s on Guide (not as much as usual) 📆

  • A bit of history (from where we were on Wednesday)

  • And lots more…. 😁

Let’s get to it.

Bath and Body Works opens at Next Gemini 🛀

This has caused excitement amongst people. When I mentioned it to my wife, she went “Wooooo” as she, like many others, visits the one at the Trafford Centre whenever we go there. We are lucky to have one on our doorstep, and Next Gemini is a good location.

Culcheth Beer Festival 🍺

After a 5-year break, the Culcheth Beer Festival is returning this September, and it’s set to be better than ever.

  • Friday, September 20th: 5 PM – 11 PM

  • Saturday, September 21st: Noon – 11 PM

  • Location: Culcheth Village Club, Wigshaw Lane

This event is a huge fundraiser for local charities, with previous festivals raising over £100,000 between 2011 and 2019. You can expect a great selection of 26 cask and keg beers from over 20 breweries, plus draught ciders, a Bottle Bar, and a Wine & Fizz Bar.

There’s live music throughout, hot food from The Village Club, and FREE soft drinks for kids and drivers.

Ticket Info:

  • Limited advance tickets (with a FREE half pint!) are available at Culcheth Village Club.

  • Pay-on-the-door is £5, including a Festival Programme, live music, and a commemorative glass (but no free drink tokens).

Jigsaw Festival 🧩

It’s always good to include something different in these newsletters. There is always an artisan market somewhere (I love them), but it’s not every weekend you see a jigsaw festival.

It looks like we are due for some rain over the weekend, so if you are looking for something indoors to do, this could be for you.

If you want more information, check out their Facebook page.

Warrington Wordle (#18) 🧠

A 6-letter one for you today, as Wednesday's 8 one was a tough one, wasn’t it?

From The Papers 📰

Here are a few local stories (no crime or politics) that have happened in the local area.

📹️ Sean Bean spotted filming on quiet street in Warrington (Warrington Guardian)

⚽️ Team from homeless shelter in Warrington to participate in football tournament (Warrington Guardian)

🍰 Popular well-established bakery in Stockton Heath is for sale (Warrington Guardian)

Sport 🏉

🐺 Warrington will take on the London Broncos tonight at the Halliwell Jones. Kickoff is 8 p.m., and we are odds-on favourites to win (tickets available here).

⚽️ Warrington Town will take on Spennymoor Town at 3 p.m. on Saturday. We haven’t won in our last five games, so let’s hope we can get a win this time.

Where were we on Wednesday?

We were on Buttermarket Street, above what used to be known as the Pelican pub—hence the pelican on the top of the building. It's now above TSB bank, but next time you are in Buttermarket Street, have a look up to see if you can spot it.

The Pelican Pub closed 100 years ago, but here’s a really old picture of it below:
