Warrington Sky Garden, Macmillan Coffee Mornings and House of The Week

Good morning, Warrington! Mike here with your midweek update. The week’s halfway through, so take a break, catch up on the latest local happenings, and see what’s worth checking out in town.

In today’s From Warrington:

  • 🥕 Harvest Festival In The Sky

  • ☕️ Macmillan Coffee Mornings Across The Town

  • 🏢 Were You Sad To See New Town House Get Demolished?

  • 🏘️ House Of The Week

  • ✅ And lots more!

Grab your brew (or maybe you are still in bed), and let’s get to it.

Harvest Festival In The Sky 🥕

Did you know that Warrington has a sky garden that most people don’t know about? It's on top of the Golden Square Car Park (take the lift right to the top), where you will find a community garden. I took my brew up here one day, and it was just a nice place to escape the world for a bit.

They are having their harvest festival on Saturday, September 28th, 10am - 1pm where you can come and collect some free produce (donations are welcome). Check out this link for more info.

Here are a few pictures from earlier in the year, when the sun was out, but the vegetables weren’t fully grown.

MacMillan Coffee Mornings ☕️

Friday the 27th of September is Macmillan Coffee Morning, so there will be plenty of these going on across the town that you can take part in.

Here are a selection of the ones that are going ahead that we could find, but there will be a lot more!

  • Statham Lodge - 10:30am | You can pop in between 10.30am and 12.30pm for some tea, coffee and cake on us for a small donation to Macmillan. We will also have a raffle with prizes up for grabs.

  • Chapelford Farm - 9am | Tombola, raffle, cakes. Free tea and coffee with all donations. Come for a cuppa and a chat.

  • The Jungle Warrington (Pinners Brow Retail Park) - 10am | have lots of yummy treats you can buy as well as a cake decorating table for the kids.

  • Seven Woods Pub, 10:30am | Every cup and slice will help Macmillan provide vital support to people living with cancer.

  • Parr Arms, 9am | Please come down to enjoy a coffee and a famous bacon buttie 😋 there will also be a variety of sweet treats and pastries available, games and a raffle.

  • Plough Inn Croft, 9:30am | Bring your own bakes or purchase some shop bought treats.

  • Greystone Rec (The Sugarloaf Horse Box), 9am | Walk the dog after you have bought your brew at this coffee morning.

Were You Sad To See New Town House Get Demolished? 🏢

This was one of the ugliest buildings in the town centre. Judging by what I have read, most people were happy to see it get knocked down. But perhaps some of you miss it. Apparently, it will be replaced by bigger, taller apartment blocks.
