Town Hall Open to Visitors, Roadworks Causing Chaos, Open Air Cinema
Wednesday 7th August
Good morning, Warrington. This is From Warrington, your friendly guide to all things local. We've got the latest town news and events wrapped up in just a few minutes—quicker than it takes to get through a set of traffic lights on Bridge Foot Island (which definitely takes over 5 minutes).
In today's From Warrington:
Roadworks causing chaos 🚦🚗
The town hall is open to visitors in August 🏫
Open-air cinema coming to Walton Gardens 🎦
Let’s jump right in.
Warrington Nightmare Roadworks 🚦
We try to focus on positive news here, but if something happens that you need to know about, we will cover it. Roadworks are causing a nightmare at the end of the new Slutchers Lane road, where it meets Chester Road.
I was unlucky enough to be stuck in these on Saturday. They are still ongoing, so try to avoid the area if possible. They are backing up traffic down Slutchers Lane and Chester Road and backing up towards Walton Gardens.
Where Are We This Week? 📸
Guess today's picture and tell us where this was taken. This is just a bit of fun, but any true “Warringtonian” should easily get this.
The answer to this will be in Friday's edition.
If you have a picture you think would make a good feature for this part of the newsletter, get in touch.
The Town Hall is Opening For Visitors
You have to admit, the town hall is a lovely-looking building. Now is your chance to see what it's like inside.
It's free to enter and runs from 2 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday in August.
You can check out the Friends Of Warrington Town Hall Facebook page to get an idea of what it looks like inside.
We hope to attend ourselves next week. We will write about it and tell you all about it soon and take some pictures.
What Chat GPT Thinks Warrington Looks Like
I am sure many of you have heard about Chat GPT (the Ai chat tool taking the world by storm). It can also now create images.
We decided to have some fun and asked Chat GPT to “create an image of what you think Warrington looks like.”
It definitely got the bridges right and the fact we have a canal/river going through the town.
Not sure where it got the idea that we have some kind of “London/Warrington Eye”?

Outdoor Cinema Coming To Walton Gardens
Walton Gardens is hosting the Frontier Sapiens Adventure Film Festival on Wednesday, August 21st, at 7 pm, with the films starting at about 8:45 pm.
This will showcase some of the world's best adventure, environmental, and cultural events.
You can take your own picnic and watch the films under the stars.
Tickets are available here, or you can find out more about the event on Facebook.
We Made A Mistake In Monday’s Edition
In Monday's edition, we conducted a poll asking if you knew that the Golden Gates were originally made for Buckingham Palace. Many of you answered “yes,” and no one questioned me. However, the information I gave you was wrong.
Eagle-eyed reader Craig Lenihan pointed this out, saying they were originally made the International Exhibit of 1862 and then intended for Queen Victoria's Sandringham Home in Norfolk.
